Bringing the Past
into Present Tense

My art seeks to explore people’s lived experiences and reflect the stories we tell about ourselves and others. As a woman with indigenous roots in the Americas as well as ancestors who immigrated through Ellis Island, my art frequently touches on themes of self and cultural identity, belonging, and influence, themes both contemporary and timeless.

Vestiges of a childhood steeped in academics and imagination (often at odds with each other) find their expression in my work through heavily researched and intentional choice of archival source material and use of saturated, brilliant colors.
